Tumble Dryer Parts

A tumble dryer is a household appliance that is used to remove the moisture from clothes rather than hanging the clothes on a clothes line shortly after they are cleaned in a washing machine. Most dryers consist of a rotating drum through which the heated air is circulated to evaporate the moisture from the load. The drum is rotated relatively slowly in order to maintain space between the articles in the load. In most cases, the drum is belt-driven by an induction motor.

Using these machines may cause clothes to shrink and to fade. Clothes manufacturers recommend clothes to be dried using half heat on the tumble dryer & clothes turned inside out. This will reduce fading & bobbing on the garment.  For these reasons, as well as environmental concerns, many people still use the air drying method.

There are three main types of tumble dryers:

Vented tumble dryers – are externally vented. Vents the exhaust moisture through an external wall.

Gas tumble dryers – are also externally vented. These tumble dryers use gas – PLG or Natural Gas – to heat the clothes.

Condenser tumble dryers – these tumble dryers condense the vented moisture into a water tank. This tank can be emptied when full.
