Vacuum Cleaner Parts

There are four main types of vacuum cleaners.

Upright vacuum cleaner – uses a rotating roller built into the body of the cleaner.

Cylinder vacuum cleaner – has a hose connecting floor brush to the vacuum cleaner.

Bagged vacuum cleaner – uses bags to contain dirt/grime.

Bagless vacuum cleaner – doesn’t use bags to contain dirt/grime. Dyson is the market leader in this type of vacuum cleaner.

Your vacuum cleaner really is an easy appliance to understand. Air is taken in through the hose & exhausted through the body of the vacuum cleaner. This air is filtered by using the dustbag & the filters to cleanse the air.  Much of the room is taken up with the bag, which is the first part of the vacuum. The bag is porous and holds the dirt and grime that the vacuum cleaner sucks up from cleaning the carpet. A fan and motor power your vacuum cleaner. The part on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner where you can feel air being sucked in is called the inlet vent. The fan and motor is fitted between it and the exhaust vent. When you switch on your vacuum cleaner, the fan comes on. The motor is the engine of the vacuum cleaner and actually is small, despite the noise of the vacuum. The noise comes from the fan humming. The dirt/grime is then sucked through the vacuum cleaner hose & into the chamber/dustbag. The dirt/grime is then captured. The remaining air leaves the vacuum cleaner through the exhaust filter...
