Vacuum Cleaner Repair

First of all ALWAYS isolate the Vacuum Cleaner from the mains supply. If your oven is hard-wired in then turn it off at the wall AND at the consumer unit. These types of installations SHOULD have there own circuit to isolate at the consumer unit. NEVER rely on the switch alone.

Some of the modern Vacuum Cleaners use a standard plug. Ensure that it is removed/isolated before you attempt to carry out repairs. These Repair Tips are intended as a guide only. If unsure of how to carry out a repair on an appliance, consult a suitably qualified engineer.

This fault is normally caused by one of four faults: Blown Fuse – Check the Fuse in the plug. Replace if faulty. Mains Cable - Check the Mains Cable for a breakage. Replace if faulty.

This is normally caused by either a fault in the (a) Brush Roll or the (b) Motor. Brush Roll - The brush roll is normally driven by the belt. A high-wearing part. The brush roll in your upright vacuum cleaner is the first contact your upright vacuum has with your carpet.

Loss of suction is normally caused by one of the following faults: Blockage in the suction hose. Disconnect the suction hose from the floor tube end, switch on the vacuum cleaner.
